Several departments within the city are responsible for Property Disposal for the public. The Parks & Recreation department is responsible for office furniture, small tools and equipment, etc. The police department handles forfeited property and police equipment. Fleet handles vehicles and rolling stock. All of these items are processed according to City Policy. Items must first be deemed to be of no further use to the city. The city manager must approve the disposal of each item. Items are then listed for auction through GovDeals.com. This is a public auction site. Anyone may register at no cost and bid on the items. Items with a winning bid of $10,000 or more must be approved by City Council before the item can be transferred to the bidder.
