CRIME PREVENTION

Bristol is a safe community with a low crime rate. The police department is proud of that and strives to be proactive to prevent crime.  You can help by keeping informed and becoming aware of how to protect yourself.

 Facts about crime:

  • We fear violent crime most, but it happens least.
  • Property crimes, including thefts and burglaries are the most common.
  • Most murders and assaults are committed, not by strangers, but relatives or
friends as a result of a dispute.
  • Older people are not victimized more than anyone else.

*****TIP*****
Be sure to keep an inventory of your valuables in case you do become a victim of theft.  It will help police with recovery and identification of your property.  Record the manufacturer, model number, and serial number of items.  Take photographs of your valuables and keep them in a safe place.
