07/14/17 Bristol, Tennessee to launch online and pay by phone utility and tax bill payments

The City of Bristol, Tennessee will be offering online bill and pay by phone payment options starting Monday, July 17, 2017.  “People are so busy nowadays and are taking advantage of paying their bills online or over the phone with a credit card. It only seemed to make sense to provide these options to assist those in our community who need it,” said Tara Musick, Director of Finance. “We will be offering online payments using debt cards, credit cards, electronic-checks, as well as a monthly bill pay to be automatically deducted from you banking account. These payment options will also be available by phone.”

Combined water, sewer, and sanitation bills and yearly city taxes will be the first to come online with traffic tickets being added eventually.  The city’s Parks and Recreation department has been taking online payments for venue rentals and any program offerings for two years.

Prior to announcing the new payment options the only way to pay bills was in person, through the mail or in a drop box outside City Hall. The new online option will provide much more convenience and streamlining of payment for residents as well as the city’s Finance Department.

“These long-awaited steps were important ones for us, and we are so excited about offering these options to the public. It is really important for us to get this first phase out. This is something we were frequently getting requests for,” said City Manager Bill Sorah.

Once the online bill pay feature goes live on Monday, individuals may access this payment option by going to www.bristoltn.org , and then click on the “Pay Now” icon at the top of the page.
