RESOLUTION 95-24 


A Resolution To Adopt An Equal Employment Opportunity Policy, Plan and Program.
WHEREAS, The City of Bristol wishes to extend Equal Employment Opportunities to all persons, and WHEREAS, The City of Bristol Tennessee is and plans to continue to be in full compliance with all federal and state laws which prohibit discrimination in employment on the basis of race, creed, color, religion, national origin, disability, political affiliation, veteran status, sex or age.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Bristol Tennessee that it is the Policy of the City of Bristol Tennessee to provide equal employment opportunity to all persons regardless of race, creed, color, religion, national origin, disability, political affiliation, veteran status, sex or age except where sex or age are bona fide occupational qualifications, in compliance with Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (P.L., 88-352) as amended by the Equal Employment Act of 1972 (Title VII, P.L. 92-261), Civil Rights Act of 1990, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1992 and other federal and state laws, mandates or guidelines as required.
BE IT ALSO RESOLVED that an Equal Employment Opportunity Plan be designed, amended from time to time as required by law, and implemented to increase the opportunity of women, minority citizens and those with disabilities to gain employment with the City of Bristol Tennessee, and to improve opportunities for advancement by women, minorities and those with disabilities already employed with the City and be implemented as a matter of Policy.
 

POLICY STATEMENT 

It is the policy of the City of Bristol Tennessee to provide equal employment opportunity which will affect all employment practices including (but not limited to) recruitment, hiring, transfer, promotion, training, compensation, benefits, layoffs, and terminations without regard to race, creed, color, religion, national origin, disability, political affiliation, veteran status, sex or age except where sex or age are bona fide occupational qualifications. This statement also commits the personnel of the City of Bristol Tennessee to work to promote and achieve equal employment opportunity within their respective work units. 

The City of Bristol Tennessee hereby establishes a specific program of Equal Employment Opportunity to ensure that all Personnel Policies will guarantee equal opportunities for all City employees. The person holding the position of Director of Human Resources is designated as this organization's Equal Employment Opportunity Officer. 

This plan includes procedures for compliance, recruitment efforts, employee education and responsibilities, grievances procedure, implementation and remedial action
