Parks and Recreation Commission 



A ten-member (10) commission composed of nine (9) appointed by City Council for three-year (3) terms and one student member selected from the rising junior class in May of each year by Tennessee High School staff for a one (1) year term.   The Student member may serve a second one-year (1) term.  Meetings are held the first Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM at Slater Center.  Chapter 54, Article II establishes the board and its duties pursuant to TCA 11-24-103.  All City Council member appointments are required to be city residents at time of appointment and maintain city residency during the entire term of office.  The student representative not need be a city resident. 

Advises City Council concerning use of and supervision of all public playgrounds, parks, athletic fields, recreation centers, and other public recreation facilities owned, controlled or used by the city and not controlled by the Board of Education.
