Operations

Fire Suppression

The Bristol Tennessee Fire Department provides fire protection from 5 fire stations in a service area of approximately 32 square miles serving a population of 27,000 residents with a population growth of about 150,000 visitors during our two NASCAR events at Bristol Motor Speedway. We also have Drag Racing events along with festivals including one large music festival which also brings a large influx of visitors to our City. All personnel are trained and certified at the Firefighter II level after attending the Northeast Tennessee Fire Training Academy. With a unique downtown filled with historic buildings along with areas of historic homes and large industrial sites our personnel constantly train to quickly and safely mitigate whatever situation arises.

Emergency Medical Services

We operate Advanced Life Support Ambulances from 4 of our 5 stations strategically located to respond quickly to all areas of our city. We are very fortunate to have a progressive Operational Medical Director who recognizes the training and skill of our personnel, who have training to a minimum level of Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)-Basic, with the majority being certified to the Advanced EMT or Paramedic level, allowing them to work from aggressive protocols which give us the ability to deliver excellent patient care.

Special Operations

One hundred percent of our personnel are trained to the level of Hazardous Material Technician with 13 of them being Specialists. We also have personnel trained in all of the Technical Rescue Disciplines; swift water, collapse, rope, trench, confined space and heavy extrication. A large number of our personnel are members of the East Tennessee District One USAR Team and have responded to several deployments within the State of Tennessee and also to our neighboring states.
