Crisis Negotiations

The Bristol Tennessee City Police Department Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) is responsible for responding to incidents in the City that require expertise by officers specially trained in crisis negotiation. The Bristol Tennessee Team currently is made up five negotiators that are on call 24/7 in addition to their regular assignments. Team members are trained in a variety of subjects to include basic and advanced crisis negotiations, crisis Intervention training, and mental first-aid.

The Bristol CNT respond to calls that can include barricaded subjects, suicidal subjects and any other calls where team members may be able to aid in the deescalation of high crisis incidents. Team members also often respond with Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) during call-outs.
