History

The State Street Farmer's Market opened in 1999. The Market is supported by 4 subsidizing governmental agencies which include the City of Bristol Tennessee, Sullivan County Tennessee, City of Bristol Virginia and Washington County, Virginia. Organizationally, the market is operated by an advisory board made up of a representative from each subsidizing governmental agency, farmers and vendors.

A market manager is provided on-site each day while the market is open from May through October.

Did You Know

The State Street Farmer's Market has applied for and received grants from the Tennessee Department of Agriculture in Fiscal Years, 2006 to 2011.  A grant was also applied for through the United States Department of Agriculture in 2009 for the market and was approved.
