This page is intended to be a resource for anyone that has been a victim of crime, and particularly for those victims that reside within the jurisdiction of the Bristol Tennessee Police Department. Various crimes and the resources available to victims of those crimes are listed on this page.
Victim Compensation
In some cases crime victims may incur expenses such as bills for medical treatment, hospital and doctor's visits, etc. These victims may be eligible for monetary compensation from the Tennessee Victim's Compensation Fund. For more information follow the link or contact the Victim/Witness Coordinator of the Sullivan County District Attorney's Office at 423-279-3288.
Domestic Violence
Abuse Alternatives operates a domestic violence shelter that serves victims of domestic violence from Bristol and the surrounding jurisdictions. They maintain a 24-hour hotline at 800-987-6499 or 423-764-2287. Their website provides information for victims of domestic violence including information on safety planning. The Branch House Family Justice Center coordinates free services for survivors of domestic or sexual violence and provides assistance for meeting immediate and long term needs, including 24/7 sexual assault forensic examinations and legal assistance. They also operate a 24-hour hotline at 423-574-7233. Sergeant Jason McCready (Email Jason McCready) is the Department's domestic violence officer and he can be reached at 423-989-5541. Sergeant McCready is available to assist victims with risk assessment, safety planning, obtaining an order of protection, court advocacy and for referral to other agencies that can better serve certain needs of domestic violence victims.
Under certain circumstances the Department can provide victims of domestic violence with a cellular phone programmed to dial 911.
