[ARCHIVED] City introduces new social media Halloween contests

A number of great Halloween events take place each year in Bristol. October comes with many costume parades, corn mazes, and trunk or treat events taking place on different dates. Visit the city’s Community Calendar to find out about several special events. Along with those fun events everyone looks forward to the downtown Bristol events that feature the annual Pumpkin Palooza hosted on the last Saturday in October at the Farmers Market and Zombie Walk hosted on 6th Street. For those interested in social media, the city is also hosting contests on Facebook, Instagram, and the City of Bristol website, www.bristoltn.org. There is something for everyone.
One of the newest ideas being introduced on the city’s social media platforms is the Scream Contest. Who wouldn’t want to have a frightfully good time being a part of the Facebook Scream Contest? If you think you have what it takes to give people the creeps or to scare them witless then you are invited to submit an appropriately ghoulish or horrifying scream via audio or video to the City of Bristol Tennessee’s Facebook page. Be creative as you want and have fun. Your screams will be heard on BTN-TV, Facebook and YouTube. For more information go to the city’s website at www.bristoltn.org or visit the City of Bristol TN’s Facebook page.
You can‘t do a Halloween celebration without a costume contest for our best friends. The contest is just for our furry friends, cats and dogs. Go to www.bristoltn.org and find out how to enter your pal in the Halloween Pet Costume Photo Contest. The contest is going on now and will continue until 3:00 P.M. on October 30, 2015. The photo must be recent. All entries will be featured in City Voice, the city’s e-newsletter. The winning picture will receive a gift basket featuring items donated by Pet Partners and Ferguson Animal Hospital.
For more information on the social media events contact Jaima Helbert at [email protected] or call 423-989-5500 Ext. 2052.
