The 18th Annual Wildlife Weekend has been scheduled for October 9 and 10, 2015. The City of Bristol Tennessee Parks & Recreation along with the Friends of Steele Creek Nature Center and Park are the sponsors of the jam-packed weekend.
The event begins on Friday evening at 6:30 PM at the Lodge located within Steele Creek Park with the annual Photography Show. Prizes will be awarded to the winners during a reception, sponsored by the Friends group. Photographer Chris Duncan will deliver the weekend’s keynote address in a short program titled “Capturing Nature with Your Camera.”
On Saturday morning, programs will begin at 8:30 AM with an Early Bird Walk and Bird Banding. Other walks during the day will feature fall wildflowers, mushrooms, and animal tracking. A Geology Hike will be hosted mid-afternoon by Jeremy Stout, the park’s Naturalist.
There will be ongoing exhibits and activities from 10 AM to 1 PM on Saturday. Some of those activities include Skins and Skulls, Bugs with Eric Smith, exhibits by Hands On Museum, Fossil Casting with Mick Whitelaw, Birds of Prey with Bays Mountain, Fossils with J.R. Arnold, Nature Crafts with Friends of Steele Creek Nature Center and Park. Check-in for all activities will be at the Steele Creek Park Lodge.
