The City of Bristol, Tennessee recognizes and celebrates examples of excellence in providing results and outstanding customer service through the Bristol First Awards program. Since its inception, the city has recognized fourteen front line employees. Some for things as simple and courteous as recognizing what was accidently taken out with the garbage and helping an elderly neighbor with tax forms, to something as monumental as performing CPR.
“We are so excited to be recognizing all the amazing employees who work for the City of Bristol, Tennessee,” said Mayor Lea Powers. “Acts such as these motivate our entire organization. I have found our employees to consistently go above and beyond to meet the needs and expectations of our community whether it be snow removal or our responses from emergency services; it is done in an exemplary fashion.”
The 2015 winners of the “P.R.I.D.E in Public Service Employee of the Year” were Mr. Troy Horrigan and Mr. Alex Webb of the Public Works department. The pair was out on their Solid Waste route when the wife of a customer motioned them over to her husband who had collapsed in the driveway. They began to administer CPR on the resident until the Bristol Fire and Rescue arrived on scene. Once the emergency personnel arrived Horrigan and Webb continued on their daily route. Public Services Manager Wes Ritchie said, “Alex and Troy demonstrated outstanding leadership in an emergency situation. We are proud of their efforts and quick thinking.”
Nominations for the award can be made throughout the year by any member of the public. Nominations must be submitted on the Nomination Form provided on the city website, www.bristoltn.org. Selection criteria can also be found there.
