[ARCHIVED] Emergency Call Boxes beginning to go operational in downtown

Six Emergency Call Boxes are scheduled for installation in downtown Bristol. Each of the call boxes will become fully operational in coming months with the first of those being the call box located at 631 Shelby Street, which came on-line this week. The city’s Police Department is constantly focused on maintaining a safe, secure environment in the ever-growing business district. There is an around the clock presence on city streets, including newly installed call boxes, that will instantly connect to the Police Department’s dispatcher. The boxes have the capability for two-way communication with the dispatcher, but communication is not essential. The instant a citizen or visitor presses the button, the department will automatically dispatch an officer to the location of the emergency call box, and a flashing blue light at the top of the pole will activate.

For all non-emergency situations please use other phone sources and call the non-emergency number 423-989-5600.

For more information, contact Major Tim Eads, of the Bristol Tennessee Police Department, at 423-989-5600 or email [email protected]
