In response to the rapid economic growth and development in the area, the City of Bristol, Tennessee is hosting a Hiring Expo on May 19th in order to help local employers connect with job-seekers throughout the region to fill available positions. More than 40 Bristol employers will be on-hand seeking to fill over 1,000 current job openings in areas such as manufacturing, customer service, healthcare, education, automotive sales & service, retail, food & beverage, and more. Employment opportunities will be available to job-seekers of all ages at nearly any level of education and experience.
“This is not just any job fair,” said Lea Powers, Mayor of Bristol, Tennessee. “This is a Hiring Expo designed to put area residents who are seeking employment in the same room with a wide array of employers in order to find the job opportunity that suits them best. Many of these employers are even prepared to hire on the spot, so job-seekers could walk out the door that same day with an offer in-hand.”
While connecting area residents with job opportunities is important, this is only part of the mission of the Hiring Expo. Additional space is being designated at the event as a Life Resource Center for local organizations to provide information about the resources and services they offer in areas such as child care, housing, healthcare, workforce readiness, and transportation, as well as services available to veterans and individuals with disabilities. Regarding these resources, Mayor Powers added, “Only when all of these components fall into place along with the right job opportunities are our community members truly prepared for success.”
The Hiring Expo will take place on Thursday, May 19th, 2016 from 10:00 AM until 7:00 PM at the Bristol Motor Speedway South Entrance, formerly Peerless Woodworking. There is no cost to attend the Hiring Expo, and no pre-registration is required. This event is sponsored by the Bristol, Tennessee Industrial Development Board.
