[ARCHIVED] 09/15/16 City Fire Department receives Service Award

he National Fire Safety Council presented the Bristol Tennessee Fire Department with its prestigious, Service Award. The department has participated in the Fire School Prevention Program for 33 years. The National Fire Safety Council makes available prevention materials such as prevention manuals, badges, posters and other fire safety handouts geared to the age level of each child.

The presentation was made by Mr. James Griffith, Fire Safety Coordinator to Assistant Fire Chief Jack Spurgeon who coordinates the annual Fire Safety and Prevention program in the Bristol Tennessee City Schools, local daycares, Headstart and other Pre-K schools throughout the area. “The best way to fight a fire is to prevent it,” said Griffith. “We have seen children save their own lives and those of their families through this program,” continued Girffith.
