The City of Bristol, Tennessee is hosting the Bristol Hiring Expo on October 18th in order to help local employers connect with job-seekers from throughout the region. More than 40 Bristol, Tennessee employers will be on hand seeking to fill over 1,000 current job openings in areas such as manufacturing, customer service, healthcare, education, automotive sales & service, retail, food & beverage, and more. Employment opportunities will be available to job-seekers of all ages at nearly any level of education and experience.
More than 1,500 job-seekers attended the previous Hiring Expo, held in May of this year. Since that time, a number of industries have experienced considerable organic growth, and Bristol’s thriving retail sector is seeking to fortify its labor force as the holiday season approaches. As a result, City Economic Development officials and members of Bristol’s business and industrial communities chose to host a repeat event to provide an additional opportunity for applicants to meet with prospective employers.
“To be able to bring such a large cross-section of Bristol’s job market together under the same roof with members of our region’s available workforce is a tremendous opportunity,” said Bristol, Tennessee Mayor Chad Keen. “The turnout of job-seekers and employers at the last Hiring Expo was incredible, and we hope to see even more people walk out of the event on Tuesday with job offers in hand,” he added.
Additional space is also being designated at the event as a Life Resource Center. This area will feature local organizations that are attending not as employers, but rather to provide information about the resources and services they offer that may be of benefit to job-seekers. These services include affordable housing, sliding scale healthcare, résumé preparation, and education opportunities, as well as information for individuals who may be seeking to start their own business.
The Bristol Hiring Expo will take place on Tuesday, October 18th, 2016 at the Bristol Motor Speedway South Building, 3005 Highway 11E. The event runs from 10:00 AM until 7:00 PM, and job-seekers may arrive at any time during these hours. For job-seekers requiring transportation, the City will provide a free shuttle to and from the event that will pick up and drop off at the Downtown Center on Shelby St across from City Hall. There is no cost to attend the Hiring Expo, and no pre-registration is required. This event is sponsored by the Bristol, Tennessee Industrial Development Board.
