[ARCHIVED] 01/03/16 City of Bristol Tennessee property tax deadline approaches

The City of Bristol, Tennessee is reminding residents that all property taxes are due by Thursday, January 5, 2017.  Payments postmarked with this date will also be accepted as timely remitted.  Failure to pay by the due date will result in a 5% penalty on the outstanding balance and interest will also accrue on the account at a rate of 1.5% per month. Tax notices were mailed out in October.  Notices were being mailed to 14,734 taxpayers on file, including escrowed accounts for informational purposes only.  

The city accepts payment for property taxes by cash, check, or money order.  Payments may be made in person at City Hall, 801 Anderson Street, Room 203.  Payments also may be dropped off in the City Finance deposit box located outside City Hall on 8th Street.  Please do not include cash if submitting payment through the drop box.  If mailing the payment, remit to City of Bristol, Tennessee, Finance Department, P.O. Box 1348, Bristol Tennessee 37621.

Tax Relief programs are also available to eligible elderly or disabled homeowners through the State of Tennessee and the City of Bristol. For more information on the program contact the city’s Finance Department at 423-989-5500 Ext.2030.  Taxpayers may also come to City Hall located at 801 Anderson Street, Room 203 for assistance.
