Bristol, Tennessee Fire Chief, Bob Barnes, recently announced Lieutenant David McGlamery’s appointment to the rank of Captain. A multi-component, highly competitive promotional process measures qualifying candidates in myriad competencies such as experience, knowledge, training, leadership, and education; the candidates are then ranked to establish promotional registers based upon performance oriented results. The department appointed McGlamery from a promotional registry that was established in September 2016. The promotion fills a Captain’s position vacancy that arose earlier this year.
Captain McGlamery is a thirteen year veteran of the fire department serving the community as a firefighter, sergeant, and for the past nine years, as fire lieutenant. In addition to his regular duties, McGlamery also serves as the department’s accreditation manager and is diligently moving the department toward its goal of achieving accreditation through the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI). Chief Barnes commended Captain McGlamery for his work ethic, leadership skills, and professional attitude while expressing confidence in McGlamery’s abilities for fulfilling the increased demands and responsibilities of his new role. McGlamery resides in Piney Flats with his wife, Lisa and their son Max.
