[ARCHIVED] 05/01/17 Update on area school bus accident

On May 1st 2017, at approximately 6:30 am, Bristol Tennessee Police and Fire Rescue units responded to a motor vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer semi-truck and a city school bus.  According to initial reports, the bus had stopped at the intersection of Hatchall Way and Volunteer Parkway to load students going to school, when it was struck from behind by the semi-truck.

There were two students and the driver of the bus transported to the hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries. 

Tennessee Highway Patrol has been contacted to assist with any inspections to be done on both the truck and the bus.

The investigation is ongoing at this time, and any charges placed will be pending until the investigation is completed.
