A Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting has been awarded to the City of Bristol, Tennessee by Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada. The GFOA recognizes governmental agencies for the Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports (CAFR) submitted each year. This award is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
The CAFR was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.
“This is an achievement to which every governmental agency should aspire to attain. I am so proud of the financial team we have in place and the leadership of Tara Musick, Financial Director. This is the 14th consecutive year the city has been honored with this award,” said City Manager Bill Sorah.
The Government Finance Officers Association is a major professional association servicing the needs of nearly 19,000 appointed and elected local, state, and provincial-level government officials and other finance practitioners.
