[ARCHIVED] 08/21/17 Buddy Jones Youth Tennis Festival Announced

It is tennis time in Tennessee, and what better place to take in a game of tennis than at the brand new Ida Stone Jones Community Tennis Center during the Buddy Jones Youth Tennis Festival.  The festival is scheduled for Saturday, August 26 from 2:30 pm until 4:30 pm.  The tennis center is located at 615 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Bristol, Tennessee.

The event is open to all area tennis players ages 9 to 14 years old.  Activities will include singles and doubles games, Beat the Pro’s and more. There is a $10 entry fee per player. The festival will be under the direction of David Poole, Brad Pippin, and area high school players.

“Buddy Jones was an avid tennis player who played most of his life, playing in senior tennis tournaments and in matches throughout the area until he was unable to play anymore. His children and his grandchildren were champions of the game of tennis in their own right.  Buddy and his beloved wife Betty never missed a match of one of their offspring. It seemed only appropriate that this children’s tennis festival be named in his honor,” said Mike Musick, Recreation Superintendent with the city’s Parks and Recreation Department.
