[ARCHIVED] 9-15-17 Bristol Tennessee Police Department’s Smelser honored

First Responders are the lifeblood of safety in any community.  The City of Bristol Tennessee had one of its own highly trained officer’s named as a Governor’s Certificate Recipient at a ceremony in Nashville, Tennessee.

Virginia Smelser, of the Bristol Tennessee Police Department was among three people from the area that were honored among 32 first responders who work to ensure the safety of their communities.  Virginia Smelser said upon receiving the award that it was truly a highlight of her career and she was honored to have represented the City of Bristol, Tennessee and the entire 911 team. 

Smelser has been with the Police Department for 23 years and serves as the department’s Communication Manager and the 911 Director.
