Bristol, Tennessee city officials will hold a public meeting to provide information and gather input regarding a proposed Bluff City Highway – Edgemont Avenue pedestrian improvement project. The purpose of the improvement initiative is to install sidewalks, crosswalks, and ADA-compliant infrastructure along the west side of the roughly one-mile project corridor, which includes both Haynesfield Elementary and Tennessee High School. This corridor begins at the intersection of Lavinder Lane and Bluff City Highway, near The Villas at Lavinder Lane, and extends north, through the intersection of Bluff City Highway and Edgemont Avenue, terminating at the existing sidewalk on the Tennessee High campus.
The principal aim of this improvement project is to provide pedestrian connectivity between the surrounding residential areas to Haynesfield Elementary and Tennessee High. Additionally, this will provide pedestrian access to the Haynesfield Aquatic Center, Todd Houston Memorial Field, home of the Tennessee High baseball team, and to several commercial areas located along the project corridor. The City intends to apply for a Transportation Alternatives Grant through the Tennessee Department of Transportation to fund the project.
The public meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 10th, 2017 at 5:30 PM in the Haynesfield Elementary School cafeteria.
