It is almost here. The annual Bristol Tennessee Fire Department Open House will be hosted as part of National Fire Prevention Week. The event will be hosted in the new Fire Station #5 located on 1404 Hwy. 11W near the Pinnacle retail development. The theme for Fire Prevention Week is, Look. Listen. Learn. Be aware-Fire can happen anywhere. Come out and learn more about how to look and listen for fires in the home. “Some great tools and information will be shared with each of our visitors. We are always happy to share information with the public that may prove to someday save a life,” stated Asst. Chief David McGlamery.
This year’s event will be a family affair with lots of activities for the kids, including ‘touch the truck’ activities where Mom or Dad can take the kids picture with a Firefighter and a piece of fire and rescue apparatus. Adults can take a tour of the City’s newest fire station and be escorted by a City Firefighter, where they can tell you more about the station, equipment, and what it is like to be a Firefighter. If you have children who are required to use a car seat, make sure and ask about having it inspected by one of the certified Fire/Rescue personnel to ensure it is installed correctly.
This is a great time of year to get to know your Fire and Rescue personnel and find out a little more about what they do. Drop in at Fire Station #5, Saturday, October 13 between the hours of 10 AM until 2 PM.
