Perfect, that is the word one could use to describe the clean opinion received for the FY2018 CAFR-Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, the highest opinion a CPA firm can issue. The report was also prepared in a format required by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA). "The City has received the GFOA Certificate for fifteen consecutive years," said Mr. Matt Hill, of Mauldin and Jenkins said during the January meeting of the City Council. Mr. Hill confirmed during the presentation that the auditors found no material weaknesses or significant deficiencies during their review of the City’s financial controls and operations.
“The Finance staff headed up by Tara Musick, deserves an enormous amount of credit because of the work they do in maintaining consistent accountability at the uppermost level”, said City Manager Bill Sorah.
The City has an annual audit review of all financial actions taken by City schools and utilities. Grants are reviewed for accuracy along with other financial funds. The report covers twenty –six separate funds and all types of financial concentrations with a City focus.
