The Bristol Tennessee Police Department charged 3 men with multiple counts of Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card, Identity Theft, Theft Under $1000, and Criminal Conspiracy after they were found to have used stolen credit card numbers at various retail locations in Bristol, TN. The suspects are believed to have been using credit card skimmers to steal customers’ credit card numbers at fuel pumps and then using the numbers to make counterfeit credit cards.
Detectives from the Bristol Tennessee Police Department have been working with several agencies in a multi-state investigation that ended with the White Pine Police Department’s traffic stop of three suspects on I-81 the morning of February 6, 2019. Based on information acquired from various agencies involved, The Knox County Sheriff’s Department was able to obtain and execute a Search Warrant on an Apartment in North Knoxville. In the apartment Detectives were able to recover 8 gas pump skimmers, several laptops, a magnetic credit card reader/writer, tablets, electronic storage devices, several re-coded credit cards and $17,680.00 in US Currency. The investigation is ongoing.
Detectives want to remind the public to use extreme caution when using a credit card or debit card. As a precaution you can pay inside for your fuel. If you feel there is something suspicious report it to the retailer and contact your local authorities.
