The Bristol Tennessee Police Department will conduct the nationally recognized Refuse To Be a Victim crime prevention seminar for members of the community May 14 and 15 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Slater Community Center Auditorium.
The program does not focus on firearms but instead focuses on raising awareness for crime prevention methods that are simple and practical.
This public service seminar offers a variety of options for residents to prepare and create personal safety strategies. Topics in the workshop include home, auto, internet, and personal security. The course provides an overview of actions that individuals can take to minimize their chances of becoming a victim.
The Refuse To Be A Victim program teaches tips and techniques the public needs to know if they find themselves in a dangerous situation. The common-sense tactics for personal safety will help attendees avoid becoming victims by providing information to maximize the security in your home, workplace, phone, and computer.
“The class is designed to teach people how to protect themselves from becoming a victim,” said Brian Hess with the Bristol Tennessee Police Department. “With the training in this seminar, we hope to open the eyes of the public and help put into practice techniques that can potentially keep them safe.”
