Community members will be given the opportunity to dispose of old cleaning products, pesticides, and other household hazardous waste on Saturday, Oct. 5, at a temporary drop-off site at Sullivan Central High School, 131 Shipley Ferry Road in Blountville, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Sponsored by the Tennessee Department of Environment & Conservation, the site will accept automotive and marine products, home maintenance and improvement products, lawn and garden products, old medicines and drugs, florescent bulbs, and photo processing chemicals. The center cannot accept medical and biological waste, explosives, radioactive items or business waste.

Those visiting the drop-off site should remain in their vehicle, keep all pets inside the vehicle, and follow signs and directions of the center staff. Only containers with flammable liquids will be returned upon request.
