The City of Bristol Tennessee will kick off its 5th annual “Spread the Glove” campaign on Tuesday, Nov. 12, as donation bins are placed in key City locations and Mayor Margaret Feierabend distributes the first gloves of the season along State Street.
Community members are invited to gather at the Downtown Center at 1:30 p.m. to learn details of the campaign, which each year asks the public to donate gloves, scarves, hats, and other cold-weather items for those in need. Each donated item is labeled with a tag that says “I am not lost. Please take this to keep warm!” or a similar message, then tied to a downtown tree or lamppost.
Items are replenished periodically throughout the winter months and are free for those in need.
Collections bins have been placed at City Hall, 801 Anderson Street; Slater Community Center, 325 McDowell Street; and at the City’s five fire stations on Bluff City Highway, King College Road, 17th Street, Exide Drive, and Highway 11W across from The Pinnacle. New and gently used items are accepted.
