[ARCHIVED] Household hazard waste to be collected May 2.

Sullivan County residents are invited to safely dispose of household hazardous waste on Saturday, May 2, in the parking lot of Sullivan Central High School.

Items like automotive and marine products, home maintenance improvement products, lawn and garden chemicals, photo processing chemicals, medicines, aerosols, mercury thermometers, and fluorescent light bulbs will be accepted. Items that cannot be accepted include medical and biological waste, explosives’/ammunition, tires, radioactive materials, business and institutional waste, and latex and oil-base paint.

The event is sponsored by the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, the Sullivan  County Department of Solid Waste, and the First Tennessee Development District. The event is for Tennessee residents only.

The drop-off site will be accepting waste from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. For additional information, please contact Kristen Evans at (423) 323-6439.
