Community members are invited to assist the City of Bristol, Tennessee in planning the future of Steele Creek Park by answering an online survey that asks a series of multiple-choice questions about existing amenities and seeks suggestions for improving the park.
The nine-question survey takes an estimated five minutes to complete and will be available on the City’s website at www.bristoltn.org through Nov. 30. The survey is just one tool being used to gather input for the Steele Creek Park Comprehensive Use Plan expected to be complete by mid-2021.
“The questions are designed to gauge what people like about the park, what they are already utilizing in the park, and what they’d like to see changed or added,” said Director of Parks & Recreation Terry Napier. “We’re also interested in hearing their thoughts about the perfect balance between recreational opportunities in the park and natural space.”
The survey results and data compiled by the Parks & Recreation staff will be used to guide visioning sessions early next year that will allow park-goers and staff members to brainstorm ideas for enhancing the park, Napier said. All of this information will be compiled into a final report that will be presented to City Council and, if approved, will guide the future development of Steele Creek Park for many years, he said.
The Steele Creek Park Comprehensive Use Plan now being developed marks the first time in decades that the City has conducted an in-depth plan to guide the park’s development. The Steele Creek Park Master Plan was implemented in November 1983. Subsequent plans in 1992 and 1997 covered some aspects of the overall park but were primarily focused on the Steele Creek Park Nature Center.
