[ARCHIVED] Most City of Bristol Tennessee offices closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day

holiday closing web

In observance of the Christmas and New Year’s holidays, most City of Bristol, Tennessee offices will be closed Thursday, Dec. 24, Friday, Dec. 25, and Friday, Jan. 1.

  • There will be no change in emergency services provided by the City’s police and fire departments. Residents should call 9-1-1 in emergencies or (423) 989-5600 to reach a police dispatcher in non-emergency situations.
  • Trash normally collected on Friday will be picked up on Wednesday for two consecutive weeks. Therefore, rather than being picked up on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, trash will be collected on Wednesday, Dec. 23, and Wednesday, Dec. 30, for those who normally receive Friday service.
  •  The City’s Transit and Paratransit buses will not run on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, or New Year’s Day. Job Access buses will not run on Christmas Day, but will operate on a normal schedule on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day.

Residents are encouraged to recycle during the holiday season. Holiday paper, including wrapping paper (non-metallic only), cardboard boxes, and greeting cards may be placed in recycling bins.   Please remember to remove packing material, including bubble wrap and Styrofoam, from boxes and flatten them before recycling.  For the specific location of recycling bins and additional information about the City’s recycling program, please go to http://bristoltn.org/1008/Recycling-Services.

Those who have requests for City services while offices are closed are encouraged to complete an online service request by visiting the City’s website at www.bristoltn.org and clicking on the Request Tracker icon at the top of the page. All requests for City services will be addressed the next business day.

For more information about the City’s holiday schedule, please contact the Department of Community Relations at (423) 764-4171.
