[ARCHIVED] Bristol Tennessee IDB announces grant programs

IDB Grants

Grants designed to spark business expansions and improve the exterior of commercial buildings within Bristol, Tennessee are now available on a first-come, first-served basis to qualified applicants.

Offered by the Bristol, Tennessee Industrial Development Board, the grants are available as forgivable loans and will include awards of up to $10,000 for business growth or $5,000 for façade improvements. The application deadline is March 11 and awards will be announced in April.

“State law allows industrial development boards to provide funding to stimulate economic growth and make a positive impact on the community as a whole,” said Economic Development Specialist Matt Garland. “We are confident these grants will allow local businesses to make worthwhile investments that will have a positive impact for many years to come.”

The Existing Business Expansion Grant (EBEG) can be used for such things as new equipment to enhance business, ADA compliant projects, and projects that provide more interior space or parking to serve a greater number of customers. The funds cannot be used for exterior signage, security systems, mechanical systems, or improvements that are not directed toward job creation or new revenue.

The Façade Improvement Grant, which is designed to have a positive visual impact on the community, is available for such things as masonry repairs, façade painting, reconstruction or replacement of historic features, awnings, exterior lighting, signage, handicap accessibility, or gutters and downspouts. Economic impact, appropriateness, and the contribution to neighboring properties will be considered when evaluating applications.

To qualify for either program, a Bristol Tennessee business must have matching funds available, be in compliance with applicable zoning ordinances, and be current on all applicant taxes and fees. Additional eligibility guidelines are included in the application packets available at www.bristoltn.org/IDBgrants or by contacting Matt Garland at [email protected] or (423) 989-5516.
