On May 5, 2022, officers with the Bristol Tennessee Police Department responded to 636 6th Street in reference to a man with a gun. The male suspect retreated into the residence and after a brief negotiation period, was apprehended by officers without incident. The male was identified as 41-year old, Roger Dale Buchanan of Bristol, Tennessee. Detectives spoke with several witnesses and victims on scene and determined Mr. Buchanan had been in a physical altercation with one of the victims. He also displayed a firearm while verbally threatening and firing several rounds into the ground near the victims. Mr. Buchanan was charged with Reckless Endangerment and five counts of Aggravated Assault. He was transported to the Sullivan County Jail on the date of incident. Mr. Buchanan was issued a $10,000 bond.
