The most anticipated crops of summer are beginning to trickle in, making it the perfect time to expand the operating hours of the State Street Farmer’s Market to include both Saturday and Wednesday markets.
Beginning July 6, the market will be open from 2 to 6 p.m. each Wednesday through the end of September and from 8 a.m. to noon each Saturday through the end of October. All markets are held at Downtown Center, 810 State Street.
The State Street Farmer’s Market began operations in 1999 to provide an opportunity for local farmers to showcase fresh produce and locally produced meat, while also allowing community members to benefit from the freshest products available. Today the market continues to offer a wide variety of crops in season, plus fresh baked goods and handmade crafts. Many vendors accept SNAP/EBT benefits for eligible purchases and, thanks to a grant from the Sullivan County Health Department, SNAP dollars can be doubled for eligible purchases made at the market while funds remain available.
