The City of Bristol, Tennessee announced selections to fill two key staff positions in the city’s Department of Public Works.

David Wilson was appointed as the city’s new Director of Operations. In this role, he will oversee the Engineering, Utilities and Public Services divisions. David is a certified Professional Engineer with more than 30 years of civil engineering experience. Most recently, Wilson served as a Principal with engineering firm Mattern & Craig, managing numerous roadway, water and wastewater, drainage and site development projects. Prior to this, he served as an engineer and inspector for a number of state and local organizations in Tennessee and Virginia. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Virginia Tech, and currently resides in Bristol.

The city also announced Brian Ramsey as its new Director of Engineering. Brian comes to the city following 21 years of experience with the Tennessee Department of Transportation, most recently as District Operations Supervisor managing TDOT operations in the state’s 5 easternmost counties. Prior to his time at TDOT, Brian completed 11 years of military service managing in-air and on-ground personnel and equipment. As Director of Engineering, Ramsey will oversee the planning, design and inspection of all engineering projects in the city as well as the city’s geographic information system. He will also plan and implement capital improvement projects such as improvements to buildings, utilities, stormwater systems and roadways. Brian holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Tennessee Tech and is a resident of Blountville.

Wilson assumed his new role in July, while Ramsey officially joins the city in mid-August.
