[ARCHIVED] Seminar to focus on ‘Building Strong Brains’

A seminar that will explore how adverse childhood experiences can increase the risk of lifelong health issues will be hosted by the Bristol, Tennessee Department of Parks & Recreation on Tuesday, Sept. 20, at Slater Community Center.

Melony Myers Ison, prevention coordinator for the Sullivan County Anti-Drug Coalition, will lead the seminar titled “Building Strong Brains.” She will explain how adverse experiences during childhood can lead to heart disease, depression, substance abuse, and other health risks. She will also highlight tips to enhance the well-being of young people and entire communities. 

The seminar will begin at 6:30 p.m. in Room 208. Those interested in attending may pre-register at Slater Community Center, 325 McDowell Street, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or online at bristoltn.recdesk.com. The cost is $2.
