Serving as the chief administrative officer of the City, the City Manager is responsible to the City Council for the administration of all City affairs, including the appointment and removal of all City employees; supervision of all departments, offices, and agencies of the City; and the enforcement of all laws, charter provisions, and acts of Council. The City Manager is responsible for preparing the annual budget and capital improvement program, preparing a complete report on the City’s finances and administrative activities yearly, and keeping the City Council informed concerning the operations and activities of City departments. They also prepare agendas for and attend all City Council meetings and work sessions, guiding discussion and decisions as needed, and assist in developing and implementing City goals, objectives, and directives in a cost-efficient, effective, and timely manner. As a leader of the organization, the successful candidate will also proudly represent the City to residents, the business community, other government entities, and members of the media.
