It is with deep sadness that Chief Matt Austin and the Bristol Tennessee Police Department announce the passing of retired Police K9 Scout. K9 Scout lost her battle with bladder cancer on Monday, March 13, 2023. K9 Scout was an 11-year-old Belgian Malinois.
K9 Scout began her career with the Bristol Tennessee Police Department in October 2014. Her handler, Sgt. Joe Newman, and K9 Scout were certified in narcotics detection and article search through the North American Police Work Dog Association. They worked together as a team until K9 Scout’s retirement in April 2022. K9 Scout will always be remembered for her loving and gentle personality.
