By signing below, you authorize the City of Bristol to investigate your personal and credit background, driving record and employment history. You further authorize former employers and others to release employment and other information to the City.

  30. *A psychological examination and physical agility test is required for Police and Fire Department applicants.

  31. * If you are offered employment with the City, your employment will be conditional upon the successful completion of a physical examination, drug screening, and background investigation to include social network medias.

  33. The City of Bristol is an at-will employer. I acknowledge that if hired, I will be an at-will employee, and not hiring for any specific time period duration. I will be subject to dismissal or discipline without notice or cause, at the discretion of the employer. I also understand that this means I am free to quit my employment at any time, for any reason, without notice. I understand that no representative of the City, other than the City Manager, had authority to change the terms of an at-will employment and that any such change can occur only in a written employment contract.

  34. The City of Bristol is a Tennessee drug-Free workplace. Job applicants at the city will undergo testing for substance abuse as a condition of employment. Any applicant with a confirmed positive test result will be denied employment. Applicants will be required to submit voluntarily to a urinalysis test at a laboratory chosen by the city, and by signing a consent agreement will release the city from liability. If the physician, official or lab personnel have reasonable suspicion to believe the the job applicant has tampered with the specimen, the applicant will not be considered for employment. A policy statement shall be given to applicants being considered for employment upon interview.
