    3. When submitting this application please attach all relevant documents i.e: Birth Certification, High School/College Diploma, Driver License, DD 214 (military service) and any Training Certificates that may relate to Police/Emergency Services.

    4. The Bristol Tennessee Police Reserve/Auxiliary is a total voluntary force under the direct control of the Bristol Tennessee Police Department. Its purpose is to enhance the level of service to the citizens of Bristol.

    5. In order to be eligible to apply to the Police Auxiliary you must be 21 years of age or older, have a high school diploma or GED, and have graduated from the Bristol Tennessee Police Department Citizens Police Academy. General Order 500.38

    6. In order to be eligible to apply to the Police Reserve: You must meet the above basic requirements for Auxiliary Officer and General Order 500.39

      1. You must be a Bristol Tennessee Auxiliary Officer for one year or
      2. You must be a former Police Officer with this department or
      3. You must have graduated from a certified Police Academy that has met P.O.S.T. standards for Police Officers.
      4. You will be required to attend a 40 hour Reserve Officer School.
      5. If you are a member of another department's Auxiliary/Reserve you will not be eligible to apply to the Bristol Tennessee Police Department Reserve/Auxiliary Program

    7. Both Auxiliary and Reserve Officers are required to perform a minimum of 120 duty hours per year, and 40 hours per year in-service training. Failure to comply with these duty and training hour requirements can result in your dismissal from the Auxiliary/Reserve force.

    8. You may be given a variety of duty assignments, such as: Patrol ride along, Traffic Direction, Assisting the Criminal Investigation Division, Assisting the Community Policing Division, Crowd Control, Communications, Administration, and various other details. You will be required to undergo both a physical and psychological exam. You will be responsible for obtaining all equipment, uniforms, duty belt, etc. at your own expense.

    9. Reserve Officer applicants will also be required to pass a physical fitness obstacle course prior to entering the Reserve Program.

    10. A back ground investigation will be completed on all applicants. Eligible applicants will be notified of the date and time of their interview.
