A Commercial Developer, women’s rights advocate, strong economic development proponent, and a champion on education, Michelle Reuning has a track record of getting things done by relying on herself and listening to her instincts.
While raising her three children and holding two jobs Michelle earned a degree from East Tennessee State University with a B.S in Speech Communications and a minor in Marketing. She will tell you that education was her pathway to a better life. Through this Michelle has become one of the most visible advocates of Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam’s Drive to 55 programs.
Michelle was elected to the Bristol Tennessee City Council in 2011. Michelle will serve as Vice Mayor from July 2018-June 2019. She was selected to serve as Mayor in July of 2013 and served through June of 2014. She continues to serve on the City Council today and in that capacity also serves on the Bristol Tennessee Essential Services Board of Directors, the Executive Board of the Sullivan County NETWORKS Partnership and the Bristol Planning Commission. She prides herself on listening to the voices of the community. She makes decisions as a member of City Council that affect the community each day based on those voices.
She is a native of Sullivan County, a 2011 graduate of LEAD! Bristol and a 2011 graduate of the Citizens Municipal Academy. Michelle has three children, Corban, Anna, and Megan.
