Although he was originally born in the coalfields of southern West Virginia, Mahlon Luttrell has called Bristol home for more than 60 years. He graduated from high school in 1972 and, at the age of 17, enlisted in the Tennessee Army National Guard. After serving proudly for nearly 8 years, he was honorably discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant, having served as a Tank Commander and Squad Leader.

His educational background includes coursework completed at Virginia Highlands Community College, Northeast State Community College, East Tennessee State University, and the University of Tennessee. Professionally, he spent more than four decades in skilled trades and advanced manufacturing, conducting business across the globe. He also performed a number of administrative duties and held a variety of senior level positions before retiring in 2015.

Of all of his experiences, he is most proud of his work in the Bristol community. He is currently in his 15th year as President of the 501(c)(3) nonprofit Bristol Baseball, Inc. and has served as the General Manager of the Bristol Pirates (previously the Bristol White Sox) for the past 11 seasons. Additionally, he has been a member of the Jacobs Creek Job Corps Community Relations, served on the board of Discover Bristol, and has held a seat on the Bristol, Tennessee Parks and Recreation Commission. He was elected to a four-year term on Bristol, Tennessee City Council in 2019.

Mahlon and his wife, Delma, have been married for 46 years. Their family includes two sons, Michael and Jonathan, and daughter-in-law, Kristin.
